HPD to Public: “Pirate” Treasure to Help Special Olympics Texas

(09/30/2011)

Houston police officers are once again going undercover, posing as pirates to get loot for Special Olympics Texas. Beginning TOMORROW (Saturday, Oct. 1) through the entire month of October, every driver who buys a $10 carwash at CARisma, at 5203 Kirby Drive, and inputs the code 3333 will have $4 donated to Special Olympics Texas.

The month-long effort will culminate in HPD officers, dressed in pirate costumes, raiding the carwash on Saturday, Oct. 29. The day-long event will feature officers and volunteers greeting customers and giving away goodies. At 8 p.m. the carwash will close and a kid friendly “pirate adventure” will be held. The event will be free, but donations to Special Olympics Texas will be accepted.

Photos of last year’s event are attached to this news release.

Special Olympics Texas is a privately funded non-profit organization that provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
