Solid Waste Labor Day Schedule

Monday, September 5, 2011 (Labor Day)

There will be no collection services today. All SWMD facilities, including the Neighborhood Depositories* and the Westpark Recycling Center will be closed today.

Tuesday, September 6, 2011

Monday’s Garbage, Curbside Recycling, Yard Waste, 1st Monday’s and 1st Tuesday’s Tree Waste Collected today. Neighborhood Depositories* closed. The Westpark Recycling Center re-opens.

Wednesday, September 7, 2011

Tuesday’s Garbage, Curbside Recycling, Yard Waste, 1st Wednesday’s Tree Waste collected today. Neighborhood Depositories re-open.

Normal schedule resumes today.

*Effective Friday, July 1, 2011, the City of Houston Solid Waste Management Department changed the days of operation at the six neighborhood depositories (junk waste & recycling drop-off sites). “The days of service will resume to ‘pre-Ike’ days of operation-Wednesday through Sunday (closed Monday and Tuesday),” said Harry Hayes, Solid Waste Management Director.

Full operations and services will be maintained at these six facilities (listed below) five days a week except holidays, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the convenience of the residents of the City of Houston. Citizens are encouraged to arrive at least 30 minutes before closing to allow adequate time to unload.

Houston residents may utilize these Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) neighborhood depository/recycling centers to dispose of their junk waste, as well as their recyclables (paper, corrugated cardboard, newspaper, office paper and unwanted mail, magazines, telephone books; aluminum and tin cans; #1-5 and #7 plastics; and used motor oil):
