(HOUSTON) July 26, 2011 … World renowned animal expert Jack Hanna will headline the Houston Zoo’s annual Wildlife Conservation Gala in October. Set in The African Forest, the Zoo’s new and beautiful 6.5 acre addition, the Houston Zoo’s Fourth Annual Feed your Wild Life Conservation Gala: An Evening with Jack Hanna on Thursday, October 20 will feature cocktails and a sumptuous evening dinner, captivating animal experiences with some of the Zoo’s special wild VIPs, and timeless stories and firsthand accounts from America’s favorite zookeeper Jack Hanna, drawn from his 30 years of global travel securing wildlife populations around the world.

The Fourth Annual Feed Your Wild Life Conservation Gala supports the Houston Zoo Wildlife Conservation Program. A recognized leader in zoo-based conservation programs, the Houston Zoo has contributed more than $4 million since 2005 to save wildlife and wild places in Texas and around the world.

The world’s wildlife is disappearing at an alarming rate. Global conservation agencies have documented tens of thousands of species that are now at risk of extinction including 12% of all birds, 21% of all mammals and 32% of all amphibians. The Houston Zoo is working to save species and habitats at home and abroad.
