PHOTO DAY AT THE HOUSTON ZOO SATURDAY FEBRUARY 19

COME INSIDE AND SEE US!

(HOUSTON) February 8, 2011 … Fight off the chill and come inside for a day of photography and fun at the Houston Zoo’s Photo Day on Saturday, February 19, 2011.

This month, Photo Day zooms in on the Zoo’s indoor exhibits as we explore the Carruth Natural Encounters building, the Kipp Aquarium and the Reptile House. The Houston Zoo opens its gates 2 hours early at 7 a.m. on February 19 allowing Photo Day ticket holders to capture memorable shots of some of the Zoo’s early risers.

Photo Day ticket holders can enjoy a continental breakfast and take advantage of specially scheduled indoor photo opportunities. Of course, those who find Houston winters invigorating can roam the Zoo grounds at their leisure taking photos of all the Houston Zoo has to offer until our normally scheduled closing time of 6 p.m. Depending on the times and temperatures, not all animals will be out on exhibit immediately, however our keepers do their best to have a variety of species on display as early as possible.

Photo Day Schedule of Events For Saturday, February 19:

7:00 - 8:00 a.m.

Gates Open, check-in/registration and continental breakfast

7:00 - 9:00 a.m.

Free roam photo access to Zoo grounds & all outside exhibits 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. Scheduled animal activity photo ops inside Natural Encounters

8:30 - 9:00 a.m.

Scheduled animal activity photo ops inside Kipp Aquarium

9:00 - 9:30 a.m.

Scheduled animal activity photo ops inside the Reptile House

Register on line at http://www.houstonzoo.org/photography-day/. Walk-up registration at Houston Zoo Gate 5, 6200 Hermann Park Drive available beginning at 7 a.m. Feb. 19.
