Unique Photo Exhibition in February at the Texas State Capitol “Retracing Our Steps” to Showcase the Republic of China since 1911

Some events only happen once in history. February 2011 will mark just such an event at the Texas State Capitol Extension’s North Central Gallery, 1100 Congress Avenue Austin, TX 78701, February 7 through 12, 2011. This unique story of “Retracing Our Steps” will be exhibited by rare photographs featuring the course of R.O.C. history since 1911, including its development in Taiwan. Since then it has enjoyed a strong legacy of traditional Chinese culture and economic ascendancy.

A Grand Reception will be held to start the event at the Texas State Capitol Extension Legislative Conference Center’s Main Conference Room E2.002A, 1100 Congress Avenue Austin, TX 78701, on February 7, 2011, from 6:00-7:00 pm with a pre-reception refreshment social starting at 5:30 pm in celebration of “Retracing Our Steps”. Members of the media are warmly invited to enjoy this as well.

The themes of the photos range from purely historical to subjects of aesthetic interpretation. All aspects of life have been captured in the exhibition. From economic development to government and politics, from agriculture and the environment to technology and stunning art, the accomplishments of many people have been captured and will be on display in one place for the public to enjoy. Photos of historical significance show key figures of the 20th Century, including former president Dwight D. Eisenhower and Katherine Graham, former publisher of the Washington Post.

Some of the values reinforced by “Retracing Our Steps” include diversity, creativity and tolerance in the light of historical reflection. To understand the history showcased through the exhibition will truly enrich both young and old with a deeper understanding of the human condition and the global necessity of promoting that which is good, just and honorable.

This once-in-a-lifetime centennial event is free and open to the public, including all media. For more information please contact us in Austin Taichung Sister Cities Committee .
