CLASSES AND EVENTS FOR KIDS

Safari School (Ages 3-5)

January 5, 8, 12, 15, 19, 22, 26, and 29

Time: 11 a.m.

Join us with your preschooler for an hour-long safari through the animal kingdom to explore the world of wildlife. Each week we'll learn about a new animal through interactive learning stations, hands-on activities, exhibit visits, touchable animals, and more!

Ticketed Event: $20 per class for members (includes 1 adult); $10 per additional child
$30 per class for non-members (includes 1 adult); $10 per additional child.

Wild Wheels (ages 0-3)

February 1, 3, 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24

Time: 9:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.

Enjoy the wild outdoors with your infant or toddler! We’ll meet outside the front entrance by the gift shop and “stroll” together through a particular part of the Zoo. Our trek will conclude with a touchable animal encounter at the conclusion of the program. Individuals and mom groups welcome!
Ticketed Event: $8 per child for members (adult members are free); $20 per child for non-members (includes 1 adult admission); $8 per each additional child and $12 per each additional adult.

Teen Career Conference (Ages 12+)

February 27
Time: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Gain insight into animal-related career fields directly from Houston Zoo staff and learn how to get involved through volunteer and internship opportunities at the Houston Zoo.
This exciting program will include brief presentations by Zoo staff members, including how they entered the zoological field and an overview of their current job, information regarding our teen volunteer program and internships, and representatives from colleges and universities with animal-related fields of study.

CLASSES FOR ADULTS

Senior Safari

Time: 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.

Think the Zoo is just for kids? Think again! With informative topics and amusing animals, challenge your mind, get a little exercise, and experience the wonder of the natural world as if you were a kid again! We'll meet outside the front entrance by the gift shop and enjoy an in-front-of-scenes tour of one or more exhibits. Each week varies and may include an animal visitor or a special presentation at an exhibit. The program concludes with a brief coffee and tea social. Senior Safari requires moderate walking to the exhibits, although the tour is wheelchair-accessible.

Ticketed Event: Members: $10 per person; Non-members $15 per person

Time: 6 p.m. to 9 a.m.

Spend the night at the Zoo for a unique, after-hours experience which includes interactive activities, touchable animals, pizza dinner, continental breakfast, and free admission to the Zoo on the second day! Badge Wild Winks include all that is offered with regular overnights, plus participants will complete badge requirements. This program takes place on Zoo grounds, so please dress for the weather.

Ticketed Event: $50 per person ($55 Scout badge overnights).

Educator Overnight

January 28
Time: 6 p.m. to 9 a.m.

Teachers! Spend the night at the Zoo and earn 6 continuing credit hours. Your Zoo overnight experience includes raffle prizes, teacher-friendly giveaways and a take home curriculum. This program takes place on Zoo grounds, so please dress for the weather.

Ticketed Event: $60 per educator.

HOME SCHOOL EVENTS AND CLASSES

Home School Day

Join the Houston Zoo's educators for a day of cool animal encounters, fun education programs, and zoo tours just for homeschoolers. Classes for all ages.

Home School Classes

Ever wanted to work on the wild side? Think you have what it takes to work with the animals and to work at a zoo? Come discover the many possibilities with our Zoo Career Series. Learn the in and outs of designing exhibits for our ferocious felines or how our animals participate in their own veterinary care.
