HOUSTON (Nov. 11, 2010) -- The Women Veterans Business Center (www.WomenVeteransBusinessCenter.org)

will be a membership-based online portal of information and resources specifically for women veterans and military family members that desire to start and grow veteran-owned businesses. Grand opening events begin at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, with a Community Partners Lunch. The Inaugural Women Veterans Business BOOTCAMP begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010. Both events will be held at Houston City Hall in the first floor boardroom, 901 Bagby Street, Houston, TX 77002. The Women Veterans Business Center (www.WomenVeteransBusinessCenter.org) will officially open on Veterans Day, 2010. Outreach/networking events, business training and business consulting are all services provided by the Women Veterans Business Center.

Marylyn Harris, an Army veteran business woman, is the Center's founder. Harris says, "It is great to finally have one central place where veteran-owned businesses can network online, get up-to-date information and learn of upcoming events pertinent to veteran-owned businesses." The Women Veterans Business Center will connect the veteran-owned business community to useful products and services to assist with business development and expansion.

The Women Veterans Business Center, in collaboration with its Community Partner Network, provides several "mission critical" services to its members. Services include outreach/networking events, business training and business consulting. The Center also provides numerous "value added" services to members. These include childcare support for members to attend professional meetings and Mental Health Resiliency Coaching. Center events are open to women veterans and military families across military branches and from all service eras. "Members from across the country and abroad will be able to attend the Center's virtual programs and events," said Harris.

The Grand Opening BOOTCAMP will include presentations from Valerie Coleman of the SBA, Susan Repka of the WBEA and Crystal Washington, International Social Media Strategist. Topics will include the new SBA Women-Owned Procurement Program, women-owned business certification and Social Networking to Grow Your Veteran-Owned Business. The full-day program includes lunch, EXPO and networking. Contact Marylyn Harris at 713.230.8026 for additional information.
