糖城將主持福遍郡至今最大07/04國慶慶祝活動(2010.06.23)

[06/23/2010]

What better way to celebrate America’s 234th birthday than by gathering with family and friends for an evening filled with patriotic pride and Fort Bend County’s largest Fourth of July celebration. The City of Sugar Land will host its 25th annual Red White and Bluefest, from 5-10 p.m., at Oyster Creek Park, 4033 State Highway 6 South.

The evening kicks off with classic patriotic songs performed by Rumble Seat Four Barbershop Quartet, followed by Tropicrew, a band sure to get the crowd up and moving with their tropical rhythm grooves. Closing the evening will be Houston’s premier party band, Fried Ice Cream, a group that blends the rich musical heritage of the Texas Gulf Coast with a unique performance style resulting in a dynamic sound and visual artistry.

Houston’s 106.9 The Point will broadcast live at Oyster Creek Park from 3-7 p.m. Sugar Land residents and 106.9 The Point DJ’s Michele Fisher and Dain Craig will emcee the patriotic celebration.

There will be plenty of things for families to do with their very own children’s stage. Programmed with Bollywood-style dancing from Rhythm India and Tai-Chi from the Fort Bend Chinese American Association groups, the children’s stage will also feature a family comedy show, clown acts and a grand finale magic show.

America’s first flag creator, Betsy Ross, and good ol’ Uncle Sam will also make an appearance as they stroll through the park paying homage to America’s classic historical figures.

But the fun doesn’t end there. In addition to dual stages and strolling characters, there will be plenty of bounce houses, water slides, face painting and much more -- all free of charge. Entertainment, activities and parking are all free for the community.

“Our goal for all City events is to provide exceptional entertainment for our residents free of charge.” said Teresa Preza, event production manager. “This event is an opportunity for family and friends to enjoy an eventful evening and celebrate America’s independence.”

A variety of local food vendors will sell BBQ sandwiches, hot dogs, pizza, ice cream, funnel cakes and much more.

Avoid traffic by utilizing the shuttle service from Mercer Stadium, 16403 Lexington Blvd., which will run from 4:30-11 p.m. If conditions permit, parking will also be available on the easement at Oyster Creek Park.
